*** Any student admitted into a program at Manchester Community College will be required to take placement tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Students who are not applying to a program are still encouraged to take the test to meet course prerequisites as well as maximize opportunities for success. ***
Assessment / Placement Testing - The goal of assessment testing is to identify areas of strength and weakness so that appropriate course placements can be made. MCC uses Accuplacer, which was developed by the College Board. Any Student admitted into a program will be required to take placement tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
The purpose of Accuplacer tests is to provide you with useful information about your academic skills in the above areas. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to determine your course selection. Students who are not applying to a program are still encouraged to take the test to meet course prerequisites as well as maximize opportunities for success.
You can not "pass" or "fail" the placement tests, but it is very important that you do your very best on these tests so that you will have an accurate measure of your academic skills.
*** Please note: Any student that has taken an Accuplacer and has scores that are more than three years old must take the placement test again. If you have any questions please review the Academic Catalog
. ***
If you are an online student and need to take the Accuplacer at another location/site please fill out the Accuplacer Remote Testing Form
.

Manchester Community College is also a College Level Exam Program (CLEP) testing center. CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States today, helping students of a wide range of ages earn credit for what they already know, regardless of how that knowledge was acquired. By receiving a satisfactory score, students can earn from 3 to 12 college credits toward a college degree for each CLEP exam taken, depending on the exam subject and the policy of the college or university.
