What is TRIO?

The TRIO/Student Support Services (TRIO) Program at Manchester Community College is committed to supporting TRIO students academically and personally in realizing and achieving their goals.

TRIO is a federally funded program which offers support and advocacy for students who are low income, first generation and/or students with a disability. (First generation is defined as a student whose parents have not received a Bachelor’s degree before the student turned 18).

Each TRIO student is assigned a counselor who monitors the students’ academic progress and assists the student in overcoming barriers. The TRIO office is also a place where students can grab a free cup of coffee, have lunch and connect with other students. TRIO students have an opportunity to participate in several leadership opportunities such as an annual Alternative Spring Break trip.

TRIO/SSS at Manchester Community College is made possible with a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
